Project Manager (Engineering)

Deliver a high-impact project on a well-known marine asset in Melbourne’s Port precinct.

We’re seeking a Project Manager (Engineering) to oversee a major multi-disciplinary infrastructure upgrade on a prominent waterfront site. Based in Port Melbourne, this role will be responsible for all phases of project delivery – from planning and contract management through to execution and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage project planning, cost estimating, scheduling, and budget control
    Administer and oversee complex, multi-disciplinary contracts
  • Lead risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
  • Align project outcomes with asset management plans and maintenance priorities
  • Prepare and present reports and updates to senior executives and stakeholders
  • Resolve industrial, contractual, and performance-related issues professionally

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, estimating, scheduling, cost control, and administering multi-disciplinary contracts (including maintenance contracts).
  • Exposure to marine infrastructure projects (e.g., timber structures) is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of project risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of asset maintenance principles and ability to apply asset management plans effectively.
  • Experience in condition assessments and conducting engineering investigations.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports and deliver presentations to diverse stakeholders, including senior leaders.
  • Skilled in collaborative problem-solving, including negotiating and resolving contractual or performance issues constructively.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management and/or civil/structural engineering or relevant experience
  • Eligible for admission to membership of Engineers Australia
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality management concepts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S regulations and code of practice
